How development corridors interact with the Sustainable Development Goals in East Africa

Investment in infrastructure and industry has reached record levels across the global South, leading to claims that world is at dawn of a fourth industrial revolution. This claim reflected central position occupy Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). SDG Goal 9: Industry, Innovation Infrastructure been described as fundamental achievement 2030 Agenda for Development. With this mind, it important investigate how 9 interacts with other SDGs. Informed by interactions literature, article considers emerging trade-offs between SDGs East Africa – where are dominating development planning financing. Based on in-depth, qualitative research along two new ‘development corridors’ Africa, we highlight complexities nuances offer insights into why certain often prioritised over others.
